CHILDREN IN ACTION
Started in March 2009, the Crianças em Ação (Children in Action) project is aimed towards the enhancement of a healthy childhood, attending to children who have found themselves in a context that not only exposes them to drugs but is also an ideal environment for them to be groomed for trafficking.
Their environments also offer unfavorable conditions for recreation and quality education.
The projects procedure is focused on preventing children who are in socially vulnerable environments, from falling prey to external pressures that could lead them down the path of crime, redirecting their focus towards seeking love, teaching respect for others and yourself, valuing education and helping them to develop any skills that they might have, as well as showing them that it is possible to dream and build a better future.
The Crianças em Ação project works in the neighborhood of Glicério and serves about 40 children living in the region. Every week various activities are carried out such as classes in moral education and awareness (with the use of teaching materials), games, art activities, kid’s movies and other recreational resources. The kids are divided into classes so that more specific attention can be given to the needs of each individual age group. Tours are also conducted with the prior authorization of parents or guardians.
The project has the support of 15 volunteers who are each given different tasks, and it receives support from the Missionary Association Projeto 242 for the purchasing of materials and hosting of events.
Times of activities:
Thursday from 19h30 to 21h00 at Compassiva headquarters (Rua da Glória, 900 – Liberdade).
